Elaine & AJ At Moonstone Beach In Cambria, Ca
The Cambria Yankees
I coached a little league team this season and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. I was blessed with an incredible group of young men who like to play baseball. One day towards the end of the season I shot photos instead of running an organized practice. It was worth it. These photos sum it up pretty well.
For any of you looking for a solid investment in a time of uncertainty, step to the helm of youth sports and you will impact the future more than pinching pennies. It is nothing short of an honor to be a part of these guys lives. “ONE, TWO, THREE, YANKEES!”
The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Chuck Liddell Portraits
Chuck Liddell has created quite a name for himself in the intense world of the UFC. I know Chuck from “back in the day,” as they say. We both grew up in Santa Barbara and went to San Marcos High. Sometimes our crews would overlap at parties in IV or where ever. He hung out with my brother Bobby more. (Bob, if you read this call me.) Sometimes we would get pretty crazy. Sometimes we would get REALLY crazy. One night in The Goodland I got myself into an impossible situation. There was no way I could fight my way out of it and expect to live. Jacobsen’s sister Mary Lynn saw the situation developing and made a call and got a hold of Chuck. It wasn’t long until he arrived.
Chuck was maybe seventeen at the time and he already had a heavy reputation. When he arrived he walked into the room crowded with 30-40, mostly drunk and aggressive, young men and their female companions. It was like the parting of the Red Sea in the Bible. He walks in, comes right through the parting mass towards me. It was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. When he gets to me he says, “Looks like you got yourself into a fix. You ready to go?” I said “Yep.” “We’re outta here.” he said. As we left not a word was said and it remained quiet. Never once was there a glint of concern on his face. When we got outside I said thanks, he said no problem and we each jumped into our cars to leave. As he got into his I realized his car was full of his crew, maybe five more guys, and they were off. I was tripping out. He knew he was walking into a hostile situation and made the other guys stay in the car. Through it all he maintained his quiet, humble demeanor. He’s still like that today.
These photos were shot in the Cal PolyArt & Design photo studio in 2004. Thanks for the honor Chuck. Go get’em. The Central Coast is full of surprises

Portraits of Logan
I first met Logan as his coach for little league last year. What a great kid. He is a budding guitarist and has a great heart with a drive to succeed. It is nothing short of an honor to capture this young man at this point in his life. Go get’em Logan. The Central Coast is full of surprises.
PS_easy ladies, you don’t even want to know how old he is.

Ghost Ships in Monterey
Brian Eyler, Registrar at The Monterey History & Maritime Museum contacted Joseph Dominguez Photography to archive a rare collection of model ships. I have a ton of material from this project and will be posting assorted views from this collection over the next week or two. I was blown-away at the level of craft and patience it takes to achieve such great work. Thanks for the honor Mr. Brian. ~ JD

The Band Called My Javelina
Kyle Elton, Steven Welden and Alex Hanson make the band My Javelina. They are a lot of fun and know how to rock it. The fellas came by for some shots so we got some. Thanks guys. The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Deepa Willingham
Deepa Willingham was in Cambria to delliver a presentation on poverty for the Rotary Club of Cambria. Deepa is the founder of PACE Universal, a school for impoverished girls in India. Deepa Willingham has a wonderful presence and a beautiful smile. Deepa’s humanitarian work is world renown and it was nothing short of a privilege to shoot her in my studio. Deepa Willingham was honored as one of Santa Brabara’s Local Heroes in 2007 by The Santa Barbara Independent. The Central Coast is full of surprises.
Thanks Deepa, for the honor.

Rainy Day For The Photographer
As the coffee is brewing I’m looking out the window to the backyard. It’s raining again and I don’t mind. I love days like this.
